Dog-Friendly Beaches
1 beach · 1 country
Dogs permitted, with the season and the rules stated.
Almost everywhere restricts dogs on beaches during the bathing season, and the rules are local, seasonal and changeable — which is why this collection is short and why every entry in it carries a check date. The common patterns: a total summer ban with free access from October to April, a permanent ban on a marked central section with dogs allowed at the ends, or a leash requirement year-round. Nesting beaches almost always prohibit dogs outright, and the reason is direct — dogs dig up turtle and shorebird nests. Anyone travelling with a dog should verify locally rather than rely on a register: this is the category most likely to have changed since it was checked, and the penalties in some jurisdictions are substantial. Where a beach appears here, the record states the season and the restriction rather than a simple yes.
Not to be confused with
Against beaches where dogs are simply seen: informal tolerance is not permission, and the two are frequently confused by visitors who then get fined.
