Romantic Beaches

Low density, good light, and room to be left alone.

The most subjective collection in the register and the one most worth being honest about. What it actually records is three measurable things: low development, an aspect that gives good light at one end of the day, and enough space or enclosure that other people are not immediately present. That tends to select for coves, for beaches with a walk or a boat in, and for west-facing shores where the sunset runs down the sand rather than past it. It is not a ranking of beauty and it does not attempt one. Several beaches that would appear on any romantic list elsewhere are absent here because they are crowded from ten until five, which is a fact about a place that the marketing usually omits.
