Beaches in Anguilla
1 beach · 1 beach world
A flat limestone island with no rivers and no mountains, which means no sediment reaches the sea and the water off its beaches is exceptionally clear. It has thirty-three beaches and very little else, which is the point. A flat coral island of some ninety square kilometres with over thirty beaches, and no rivers — which is why the water is as clear as it is. The island has no high-rise building, no casinos and a deliberate policy of low-density development, so the beaches are quiet in a way that its neighbours are not. Shoal Bay East is the best known; Rendezvous Bay and Meads Bay are the longest. Hurricane Irma struck directly in 2017 and rebuilding took years. The dry season runs December to April and prices are among the highest in the Caribbean. The island's restaurants are disproportionate to its size and are a large part of why visitors return.
