A limestone island cut by short steep ravines, and where each of them reaches the sea it leaves a cove. The south-east coast holds dozens, most reached down a rough path and a stair, some small enough that a few hundred visitors overwhelm them — Caló des Moro has been removed from its own municipality's tourism promotion for that reason. The northern coast is mountain falling into deep water, the bays of Alcúdia and Pollença have the family sand, and the interior has nothing to do with any of it. Access is the constraint rather than the law. Several of the famous coves close their roads to private cars in summer and run shuttle buses; parking in the residential streets above others is limited and enforced. Caló des Moro has been removed from its own municipality's promotion because it cannot hold the numbers arriving, and the honest advice for the small coves is to go at dawn or to go elsewhere. Cala Mondragó and the Alcúdia bays absorb people far better.

Both are hidden coves. The sand is quartz sand throughout, and both sit on sheltered water. · computed from the 2 records below
